TAMARA – BLACKBERRY & ELDERFLOWER GIN LIQUEUR – GOLD AWARD
50cl/25cl/5cl – 20%Vol
We were approached by the Tamar Valley Area of Natural Beauty (AONB) and asked if we could produce a liqueur reminiscent of the Tamar Valley for their anniversary. We could think of nothing more fitting than the humble blackberry so prolific in our hedgerows. Cliff added a little elderflower to enhance the flavour for a slightly floral background. The result is a beautifully rounded flavour with the depth of the blackberry and a hint of elderflower in the background. Due to its popularity and customer demand, what began as a limited edition, this quintessential liqueur has been added to our permanent range.
The name TAMARA was chosen from many entries on Facebook. Tamara was a water nymph loved by two giants called Tavy and Torridge. Eventually, Tamara’s father angrily cast a spell and turned her into a stream for defying him. The stream flowed from Dartmoor to Plymouth and became the River Tamar. Both giants were turned into rivers too – the Tavy flowed over Dartmoor and eventually joined Tamar but Torridge lost his way and ended up flowing northwards toward Bideford. This is the potted version of the origin of Tamara. To see more visit www.legendarydartmoor.co.uk/tamaratavy.htm
